2016 Impact Awards Revealed

The Real Estate Council’s impact would not be possible without the volunteers, companies and nonprofits working hard to make a lasting change in our community. We’d like to recognize their dedication and service with the first-ever annual Impact Awards. The awardees will be recognized at Giving Gala for the important role they play in our community.

The three awards are:

  • Volunteer Impact Award: This award recognizes a TREC member who contributes significant hours to TREC Foundation and exemplifies the volunteer spirit that embodies who we are as an organization.
  • Membership Impact Award: This award honors a member company that has provided outstanding leadership, vision and service.
  • Legacy Leaders Impact Award: TREC Legacy Leaders (past TREC Chairman, appointed leaders and select community leaders who share our mission) select a nonprofit that has made a lasting, positive impact on the community. Not only is this nonprofit recognized, but the Legacy Leaders will contribute to their mission. The dollars they generously donate is then matched by TREC Foundation.

Without further ado, the award recipients are:

Volunteer Impact Award

We are proud to recognize an individual who continuously goes the extra mile in service of the community. The awardee has volunteered more than 360 hours with TREC Foundation, 112 of which were in this year alone. This individual has volunteered in the Research & Development Committee and has offered their time and expertise to project’s at Moorland Family YMCA, Citizens Development Center and Behind Every Door. The large amount of personal time the awardee dedicates to TREC Foundation speaks volumes about their level of commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all.

And the recipient is: Tyler Berns, Austin Commercial! We’re lucky to have you as part of our community, Tyler!

Membership Impact Award

This company has contributed countless hours of pro bono legal work. This company’s pro bono work has primarily provided critical support to TREC Community Fund. They helped create TREC Community Fund and continue to assist by underwriting, assessing, documenting and closing numerous loans to the community organizations that TREC Community Fund serves. This company has also helped TREC by doing extensive tax documentation and legal work for the organization at no cost.

And the recipient is: Jones Day! It is with deep appreciation that we recognize all you do for TREC and our community.

Legacy Leaders Impact Award

This year’s recipient of the Legacy Leaders award, matched by TREC Foundation, is an organization that believes children are our future and we must lead them along the right path. They strive to provide children safe havens, where police officers serve as their role models. This nonprofit promotes youth outreach efforts of the DPD to facilitate positive interaction between police officers and kids.

And the recipient is: Dallas Police Youth Foundation! Our Legacy Leaders believe in the work you are doing in the community and want to help you achieve your mission.

Congratulations to all the honorees. You’ve blown us away with your drive to positively impact our community. We are fortunate to work with so many wonderful volunteers, companies and nonprofits. Keep up the great work!
