WalletHub Ranks Plano No. 6 Best City to Find a Job

Plano has been named the No. 6 best city to find a job in the country, according to the Washington D.C.-based personal finances site WalletHub.

In its 2018 rankings, WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities – including 150 of the most populated – according to their job markets and a series of socioeconomic factors, rating 26 metrics on a 100-point scale. It then determined each city’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate a total score.

Plano received a 64.69 total score, trailing Chandler, AZ (67.66), Scottsdale, AZ (66.29), San Francisco, CA (66.06), Peoria, AZ (65.35) and Gilbert, AZ (65.35). It was the No. 6 job market and ranked No. 16 in socioeconomic metrics, according to WalletHub.

Irving (No. 23), Grand Prairie (No. 38), Garland (No. 48), and Dallas (No. 49) also ranked in WalletHub’s top 50 cities.

WalletHub found Plano to have the No. 3 highest median income, with adjustments made in its rankings for cost of living. It also had the No. 4 most affordable housing behind Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Overland Park, KS; and Des Moines, Iowa. Garland was No. 5 in highest employment growth.

National unemployment remained at 4.1 percent in December for the third consecutive month, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
