Thank you to the more than 1,000 TREC members and guests who brought a little bit of New Orleans spice to Dallas on Thursday, October 6, during our annual Giving Gala, benefiting TREC Foundation. The Hilton Anatole Sculpture Park transformed into Crescent City, complete with fortune tellers, Cajun-style food using recipes straight out of New Orleans’ kitchens, a beignet and hurricane bar, and entertainment by New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival favorite Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

This annual event provides exceptional networking with industry leaders and raised more than $550,000 this year to fulfill TREC Foundation’s mission to impact housing, education, jobs and the environment in Dallas neighborhoods. Over the last three decades, TREC Foundation has funneled over $10 million to more than 100 nonprofits.
TREC’s impact would not be possible without the volunteers, companies and nonprofits working hard to make a lasting change in our community. So this year, Giving Gala honored a member, a member company and a nonprofit with its inaugural Impact Awards. The three recipients include:

  • Volunteer Impact Award – Tyler Berns: The Volunteer Impact Award was given to Tyler Berns of Austin Commercial for the tremendous amount of personal time he has dedicates to TREC and the community.
  • Membership Impact Award – Jones Day: This company was recognized with the Membership Impact Award for its outstanding leadership, vision and service. Jones Day pro bono work, valued at $400,000 since 2012, has primarily provided critical support to TREC Community Fund.
  • Legacy Leaders Impact Award – Dallas Police Youth Foundation: TREC Legacy Leaders (past TREC Chairman, appointed leaders and select community leaders who share our mission) selected this organization for the Legacy Leaders Impact Award because of its lasting, positive impact on the community. Not only was this nonprofit recognized, but the Legacy Leaders generously donated $50,000 which was then matched by TREC Foundation, bringing the total contribution to $100,000. The Dallas Police Youth Foundation supports the youth outreach efforts of the Dallas Police Department as they engage and mentor at-risk children to become future community leaders.
