Build the City You’ve Imagined. The phrase has come to define the philanthropic spirit of The Real Estate Council’s 2,500-plus members and 650-plus member companies in recent years, and the sentiment was on full display Thursday during TREC’s annual Giving Gala at the Hilton Anatole.
The evening was a celebration of TREC’s philanthropic and investment initiatives throughout the Dallas community – in 2019, TREC Foundation observed its 25th anniversary – and a thank you to all the members who have devoted their time, services, and dollars toward the organization.
Giving Gala proceeds benefit the ongoing three-year plan to revitalize the Forest District in South Dallas alongside St. Philip’s School and Community Center, Cornerstone Baptist Church, and CitySquare as part of the Dallas Catalyst Project. Having surpassed $1.7 million, the Dallas Catalyst Project is TREC Foundation’s most ambitious community investment initiative in its history.
In the last three decades, TREC Foundation has raised and provided more than $11 million to over 100 nonprofits.
During Thursday’s Gala, we also further detailed our three-year, $6 million grant from JPMorgan Chase to continue TREC Community Fund’s work to bring equitable development and affordable housing options to the Forest District, The Bottom, and West Dallas Census Tract 205 as the Dallas Collaborative for Equitable Development, with the Dallas County Community College District, LiftFund, and Dallas Mezzanine Fund. You can read more about the Dallas Collaborative for Economic Development here.
The award-winning singer-songwriter Phil Vassar provided the evening’s entertainment.
