As we gear up for TREC Shark Tank, we’d like to spotlight one of our partner firms without whom this first-time event would not be possible: NexBank. Not only is NexBank the presenting sponsor, but also a critical longtime partner of the Community Fund that provides resources, technical assistance, and board service to help the Community Fund achieve its mission.
What is NexBank?
It’s a regional bank with assets of $7.6 billion that provides commercial banking, mortgage banking and institutional services to meet the needs of its clients. The bank primarily serves institutional clients and financial institutions and also serves the banking needs of large corporations, middle-market companies and real estate investors. The bank’s charter dates back to 1922 and it’s a part of NexBank Capital, Inc., a financial services company.
What is TREC Shark Tank again?
Modeled after the popular television show, the first-ever TREC Shark Tank will feature three development teams pitching their real estate projects to a panel of five well-known investors for a chance at funding. The idea is to spark investment and economic development opportunities within the GrowSouth footprint, primarily in Southern Dallas. Mayor Mike Rawlings and Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban will open the show in conversation and WFAA’s Demond Fernandez will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies.
Has NexBank worked with TREC before?
Yes. NexBank is a Founder member of TREC and has been a primary investor with the Community Fund since 2014. In the last 12 months, NexBank provided $110,000 in grants and it currently provides a $2 million line of credit to support commercial real estate projects which benefit low-income families and the Southern Dallas community.
Members of the NexBank team have served on the TREC Community Fund Board of Directors, our Loan Committee, and most recently our Shark Tank Selection Committee providing important feedback to our semifinalists.
Where is NexBank based?
The company is based here in Dallas and its corporate office is located at 2515 McKinney Avenue. Find them on LinkedIn here.
Does Shark Tank have any other sponsors?
TREC’s broadcast partner for the event is WFAA and its Lead Shark Sponsor is J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Civitas Capital, Matthews Southwest and PurePoint Financial are also event sponsors.
Can I still get tickets?
You can. Tickets start at $51.50, but TREC members can get a $10 discount by entering the email associated with their membership as a promotional code. VIP packages range from $113.30-$154.50.
