The UT Dallas real estate programs help prepare students for successful careers in all aspects of real estate: Finance, valuation, legal and governmental, corporate, brokerage, property management, asset management, market analysis, development, agency law and contracts, GIS. Courses offer both hands-on applications and emerging technologies, such as ARGUS, Co-Star, Xceligent, and Excel.
Enrollments continue to increase rapidly. In 2011, our first year to offer the programs, 162 students enrolled in real estate classes. In 2015, enrollments rose to 547 students, a 335 percent increase. We offer Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Law and Contracts and GIS for Real Estate at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We also offer Real Estate Market Analysis at the graduate level.  Graduate students who take Principles, Finance and Market Analysis receive credit for CCIM Courses 101, 102 and 104 from the CCIM Institute Alliance Program. Most of our classes are offered in the evening to accommodate students’ working schedules.
Several students have joined case competition teams. We took first place in the ICSC case competition in 2013, took third place in 2015 and tied for second place in the NAIOP case competition in 2015.
The Real Estate club now has over 100 members. We host guest speakers, offer roundtable discussions and have field trips to various site locations, so the students can experience first-hand what the real estate industry is all about.
We are so appreciative that dozens of highly respected commercial real estate firms have hired our student full-time, part-time or as interns. They are offering shadowing opportunities and mentoring, as well.  To date, we have tracked 88 students who are employed in real estate who were not so when they attended UT Dallas.
Many organizations such as CCIM, CoreNet, CREW, ICSC, IREM, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and of course, The Real Estate Council have supported our programs and students with their time, talent and gifts. Several hundred thousand dollars in scholarship donations generously have been given. These gifts help defray the cost of college for many deserving students.
