Do you remember your first FightNight? What was it like?

It was amazing. I was young, in my mid-twenties. This would have been in the early 2000s. I remember being in the ballroom and surrounded by all these people that you read about in the paper, who are doing big things in Dallas and beyond. I felt lucky to be there, honestly. The networking that happened in that room was unbelievable. It was a very fun night!

FightNight has always been about bringing people together. Considering the current state of the commercial real estate industry, how important is that aspect of the event this year?

FightNight brings together industry professionals who have seen it all before. People my age and older have seen at least three of these big disruptive cycles in the real estate business. In each case, the one thing that has really endured has been the relationships you form. Those relationships are as important when the business is on fire as they are when the business is managing economic uncertainty.

FightNight is the premier annual event for real estate in North Texas. It’s a time to come together and celebrate what you’ve done, commiserate over what you haven’t, and get ready for what is next. This community and the people in this industry are filled with optimism, and our North Texas market is one of the best. That’s why so many people come from all over to be a part of it.

What are you most looking forward to this FightNight?

I’m just excited. Seeing all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making something like FightNight happen has made me appreciate it more than ever. It has been awesome to be involved in making such a huge event happen. FightNight is the marquee event in the Dallas real estate industry, and I have a blast every year, but being part of it on a deeper level makes it even more special.

It’s also a great time to reconnect with my friends from all over the real estate community! We’re all together in one room, enjoying a great event and sharing what all we’ve been up to. It’s so fun to see people I don’t usually run into in my day-to-day.

Why is being a part of TREC important to you?

The mission of TREC is so important, especially the involvement and emphasis on making our city and our North Texas region better. I’ve said many times that I would put our North Texas real estate community up against any city in the country in terms of the truly positive and generational impact it has on the region. It’s the people and organizations like TREC that allow it to happen. So being able to have a small part in that is special.

Since its inception in 1989, FightNight has become one of North Texas’ largest philanthropic events, raising more than $35 million to support TREC Community Investors and its neighborhood revitalization partnerships. It is a spectacular night of boxing, casino gaming, and the opportunity to network with some of DFW’s top decision-makers. Learn more here.
