Our latest ‘Legend of Commercial Real Estate’ is Jack Matthews, founder and president of Matthews Southwest.

Jack founded Matthews Southwest in 1988, three years after becoming president of the Matthews family construction company, Matthews Group Ltd., and overseeing a period of unprecedented growth in which company revenues jumped from $69 million to more than $500 million.

From 1991-93, Jack served as CEO of Paxport International, the firm awarded the $4 billion contract to privatize and redevelop Pearson International Airport in Toronto, and in 1994 he purchased Matthews Southwest and relocated to Dallas.

On today’s podcast, Jack talks to 2020 TREC Chair Bill Cawley of Cawley Partners about his life and career, including his move to DFW, and how the pandemic has affected his approach to business.
