In this edition of TRECcast, David Evemy of Sarofim Realty Advisors talks to David Meyer of Grant Thornton about recent changes to the tax code and how they affect the commercial real estate industry. Though it was recorded in advance of the 2018 filing cycle, it’s always a good time to get caught up and look ahead to next year!
Dave Meyer is a partner in Grant Thornton’s Dallas office. He has extensive experience with corporate and partnership tax matters, accounting methods and mergers & acquisitions. Meyer has served a variety of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, health care and financial services.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen, serving public and private clients. At Arthur Andersen, he was the lead tax partner in the Houston office’s enterprise group, which focused on serving public and private middle-market companies. He also served as the vice president of mergers and acquisitions for a NYSE-listed company, Consolidated Graphics, for two years.

Evemy, TREC’s 2017 educational programs chair, is SVP of Strategic Planning and Research for Sarofim. He leads the research group in the review and analysis of economic trends impacting real estate. Evemy and his team are responsible for investment strategy design and implementation as well as market conditions analysis affecting new and existing property assets. He joined Sarofim in 2000 and is a member of the company’s Investment Committee.
