In the new age of safe social distances, you can still make an impact in the Forest District. Our Dallas Catalyst Project partners are offering the following volunteer opportunities:
St. Philip’s School and Community Center: Seeking volunteers for its aquaponics garden as well as donations of toiletries, soap, lotion, deodorant, detergent, and cleaning supplies. Items can be dropped off at Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry, located at 1502 Pennsylvania Avenue, Dallas, TX 75215 on Mondays between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from noon to 5:00 p.m.
Cornerstone Baptist Church: Seeking volunteers for the Conerstone Commercial Kitchen (as well as donation items) and gardening work. Cornerstone is also seeking donations of men’s clothing (jeans, polos, button-up shirts, socks, and underwear preferred), paper towels, commercial-sized rolls of toilet paper, water bottles, and cleaning supplies. You may also volunteer (2 requested) to help Cornerstone Baptist Church develop an online marketing plan for its website and social media platforms to help build awareness for its ongoing programs and services.
CitySquare: Accepting volunteers for its thrift store and food pantry, with shifts available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If interested, please email Sandra Ostad and note that you are a TREC member. The organization is also requesting marketing services (2 volunteers requested) to help refine its mission statement and tell better stories about the Forest Theater restoration project. The organization recently launched an Instagram account to share the theater’s history and updates from the restoration, but would like help building its digital presence.
