The Real Estate Council’s (TREC) Associate Leadership Council (ALC) Class of 2026, in partnership with TREC Community Investors (TREC CI), the philanthropic arm of TREC, will provide critical facility improvements at the Braswell Child Development Center (BCDC). The project will mark the next phase of the Dallas Catalyst Project’s investment in the historic Mill City neighborhood. The renovations will improve safety, functionality and the overall learning environment at BCDC, which provides high-quality early childhood education and care to families and children ages 0-5. Since its founding in 1998, BCDC has served more than 1,000 children and families representing a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds across the Mill City neighborhood.
The ALC Class of 2026’s work at BCDC will include interior and exterior improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility and daily operations throughout the facility. Planned upgrades include improved interior and exterior lighting, replacement of aging doors, HVAC enhancements, upgraded security and access control systems, parking lot and, and aesthetic renovations to create a more welcoming, functional environment for children, staff and families. The project will also feature enhancements to the center’s recreational spaces and classrooms, supporting BCDC’s mission of providing high-quality care and early childhood education.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, TREC’s ALC is a 10-month leadership development program that inspires and educates future commercial real estate leaders in Dallas-Fort Worth. Over the past three decades, ALC has completed more than 30 neighborhood revitalization projects across Dallas, with the BCDC project continuing the tradition of community investment.

The approximately $135,500 project will be supported through a $75,000 grant from TREC Community Investors, with additional funding and in-kind contributions helping expand the project’s overall scope. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
