In addition to advocacy, leadership and professional development is also among the five major pillars of TREC’s new three-year strategic plan to build the strongest commercial real estate community in the region.

We intend to become the organization of choice for North Texas CRE talent, equipping our members with the skills, programming, and opportunities that empower them to lead their companies, the industry, our organization, and the broader community.

Here are some ways we plan to achieve our leadership and professional development goals:

Increase Member Engagement Across Career Stages
We must make it easier for all members to get involved with TREC. We will measure meaningful participation metrics across our platforms, review the structure and goals of our committees, and revisit our events calendar to focus on quality networking opportunities for members at all career stages.

Strengthen Leadership Outcomes for Program Participants
The popularity and prestige of the Associate Leadership Council (ALC) is at an all-time high as we celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026, but we will take the necessary steps to ensure class members demonstrate measurable growth and career advancement through program participation. Beyond ALC, we will also work to expand our career development offerings and create a cohort for sharing best practices.

Increase Interest and Diversity in All TREC Leadership Programs
We are in the process of developing small group forums to engage members between the ages of 27-32 (Young Guns members who are more established in their careers) and 38-45 (those close to aging out of ALC participation). These demographics have been underrepresented in our membership participation in recent years, and we will continue to revisit our event offerings to create meaningful opportunities for them.
