by | Aug 20, 2020 | Press Releases

As The Real Estate Council celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2020 amid uncertain times for our industry and city, it helps to maintain perspective on all that we have accomplished and the work that still lies ahead. Our 2019 Annual Report is loaded with facts, stats, and stories from our biggest moments of the last year, and we owe our organization’s success to the hard work, dedication, and generosity of our members, member companies, and partners throughout the Dallas community. A brighter future for our city is possible because of you!

Here are a few highlights from last year:

  • In 2019, our members volunteered 3,500 hours, served 73 different nonprofit organizations, and contributed more than $500,000 in pro bono professional services to our nonprofit partners.
  • The Real Estate Council Foundation celebrated 25 years of strengthening the Dallas community through good works and neighborhood revitalization efforts in education, housing, job creation, and the environment.
  • The first wave of Dallas Catalyst Project development – the We-Cycle Resource Center and Cornerstone Community Laundromat – officially opened in the Forest District. Additionally, our Young Guns helped renovate the Martin Luther King Jr. Learning Center for their 2019 community investment project, which is also part of the initiative.
  • Upon completing the Community Driven Growth study on barriers to equitable development in The Bottom, Forest District, and West Dallas Census Tract 205 neighborhoods, TREC Community Fund received a $6 million investment from the JPMorgan PRO Neighborhoods program to implement the plans published in the study.
  • Members of TREC’s Public Policy Committee and Political Action Committee met with our state representatives in Austin as well as other real estate councils across Texas for the biennial RECsTX Lobby Day, advocating for the issues that matter most to our industry and the North Texas region.
  • Our Leadership Development programs impacted 346 TREC members, as our 24th Associate Leadership Council class, 8th Mentorship Program class, and 4th Executive Leadership Program class took the next steps in their commercial real estate careers.
